Crows Lane Estate
Wine Labels
A murder of wines from the Crouch Valley’s Crows Lane.
A murder? We know, hardly the friendliest collective noun. Starlings get a murmuration, which sounds rather more poetic, but apparently nobody asked the crows. Anyway, here we are.
For Crows Lane Estate, we created a distinctive identity built around a crow – albeit a rather dapper, top-hatted one. Full of personality, with a dash of Essex swagger and just the right amount of sophistication.
We developed the brand’s look and feel, giving our feathered friend a character all of his own, before turning our attention to naming the wines. ‘Stone the Crows’, ‘As the Crow Flies’ and ‘Crow’s Nest’ – three names that bring a little wit and personality to the collection.
The labels are elegantly understated, combining beautifully textured paper, distinctive typography and a different metallic foil for each wine. Subtle finishing touches that add a little luxury while giving every bottle its own character.
For the product photography, we wanted to capture a little of that glorious Essex sunshine. So we shot the bottles as though they were basking in it, with warm, golden light casting long, dramatic shadows and bringing the beautiful colours of the wines to life.
The result is a distinctive identity with a playful twist – and a collection of wines that stands proudly apart from the flock.
Sorry, murder.
