Mr Hobbs
150 Gin Packaging
Back in 1870, as well as running river trips, Harry Hobbs was the publican of the Ship Hotel in the town. He was also the patron of his own gin distillery, and he and his flamboyant beard were often seen on the river while he enjoyed a glass or two of his finest.
Today, 150 years later, Hobbs of Henley River Cruises is still going strong, with old Harry’s direct descendants at the helm. Jonathan and Suzy Hobbs approached us to redesign the special Mr Hobbs 150 Gin. It was a great brief – ‘Harry, Henley & Heritage’ – and working with Royston Labels, we created a label using embossing and varnishes that the original Mr Hobbs would have been proud of.
The design was extended to the gift box, which included ‘Mr Hobbs’ spelt out in nautical flags, a photo of the protagonist himself and a brass plaque telling his rather unique story.
Jimmy is fantastic and easy to work with, he grasps your concept and interprets it brilliantly with beautiful, creative designs. We continue to work with Jimmy and would highly recommend.
